Dayton, Ohio – October 20, 2017 – GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM) receives AS9100D certification. AS9100 is the internationally recognized Quality Management System standard specific to the aerospace and defense industries.

Receiving AS9100D certification reflects GEM’s commitment to meeting and exceeding aerospace industry requirements. This certification strengthens GEM’s competitive position and standardizes quality, reliability and safety processes across future aerospace and defense programs.

According to Michael Coleman, Director of Quality at GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM), “GEM’s quality and continuous improvement initiatives are further complimented with the receipt of AS9100D. This year we took a major undertaking by going through recertification of ISO9001:2015 and ISO13485:2016 and obtaining our first AS9100D certification. A fortune 500 company serving the fiber optics industry has selected GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM) as a strategic partner for manufacturing critical equipment used in the making of glass fiber. The Company has placed orders with GEM to support production demands through April 2018.

GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing Starts Production of OBI

A local Dayton startup company Desin (Pronounced “design”) recently won the 54th annual R&D 100 award with OBI. Dubbed “Obi,” an attached, jointed arm can be programmed to lift a magnetized spoon filled with food from one of Obi’s compartments or bowls to a person’s mouth. GEMCITY Engineering and Manufacturing (GEM) started monthly production in November of 25 units and has the capabilities to ramp production of over 150 units per month.
